NetSpeedMonitor tends to have some compatibility issues with Windows 8.1 or 10, but if you run it in Compatibility Mode, you'll have no problems. Any types of users can use it with no problem, you just launch it, set your default network adapter and you're good to go. The interface is a bit raw for today's standards but it's not complicated to use and nicely organized. You can always launch the application from the tray for information or settings. The program will notify you about unusual traffic spikes or you can hover the icon and see the current bandwidth usage.
